2019 Domaine Gerard Duplessis Chablis Premier Cru Mont Du Milieu

In France, wines are labeled by their location, Champagne is from Champagne, Beaujolais is from Beaujolais, Cotes du Rhone is from Rhone and Chablis is from Chablis. Chablis is the region located in the northern most wine district of Burgundy.

Chablis is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and boy does it taste different from any other Chardonnay you may taste!  Try it out for yourselves – taste a bottle of Chardonnay from California next to a bottle of Chablis, how can they be so different?

Simple answer – weather and DIRT!!! Now Dogs have always known the value of terroir and winemakers have learned the value of it, as well!

Is one better than the other? That is for you to decide because you’re the one drinking it!

The House of Duplessis relies on the experience of 5 generations of winegrowers.  Lilian Duplessis currently heads the estate. He is very concerned with terroir and works only in organic production. In fact, In 2010 the vineyard was totally converted to organic viticulture.

Amazing focus and precision.  This Chablis has great delineation, the flavors are tunnel visioned focused.  A wonderful light, lemony flavor with hints of yellow flowers, perky and full of juice.  A lovely lingering mouthfeel.   Perfect combination with seafood, patés and my favorite poached chicken!

Check out Food and Wine’s poached chicken recipe, super easy!!
